Winter has made it’s return to Vermont and most of the north east for that matter. Since my last river report, which I indicated that winter may not return, we have had two Nor’easters hit us with another one set to hit us Tuesday and Wednesday. Thankfully air temps have remained comfortable and look to stay that way.

Rivers are in great shape. I haven’t fished, however I drove from Westford VT to Queensbury NY and there is a ton of open water with great flows and clarity. You might have to wear your snow shoes to get to the water, but the fishing should be good.

I haven’t received any reports of people fishing the rivers. I know it won’t be long before someone get the first steelhead of the year. I have been getting reports of my ice fishing friends still hitting it hard and picking up some monster pike as well as buckets of panfish. A black woolly bugger filled a bucket of perch I’m told.
