River Report: May 13, 2018
Happy Mother’s Day,
We have another beautiful day here in Vermont so I hope you are all getting a chance to be with the special mom’s in your life.
We have have had a long stretch of nice days now, we needed them. Most river sheds are fishable at this point and water temps have been right around 50. The stocking trucks have been out in full force. Most of the trophy sections have been stock already so those places will be elbow to elbow.
We have had a number of successful trips go out this week. Art Rafus had a trip with a couple on the Black river catching bows and Brian Cadoret has been teaming up with other guides in the Middlebury area on bass and trout. Earlier in the week I had our rookie , Jamie Eisenberg, help me handle a 1 day school with an enthusiastic young couple out of Burlington. The gal grew up fly fishing with her dad, while the fella had no experience with fly fishing. Our schools are a fun way to learn all the basics you’ll need to know to get started or to get the rust off if you’ve been away from the sport for awahile. After that, it is all about practice and spending time on the water putting everything thing you learned to use in fooling fish to get a tug on your rod.
The out look for this week is good water conditions continue to improve and have your Hendrickson patterns ready.
