Vermont Big Game
Along with trout and small mouth, VT has some less well known
species that can provide some amazing fly fishing action. Many
of these are warm water species that offer an alternative to
trout streams in the heat of the summer. This year we are beginning
to offer trips that focus on fish like: Northern Pike, Gar,
Bowfin, Sheephead(drum). These are all fish that can reach large
sizes and we fish with 8-10wt rods. Often these trips will be
done in a canoe so we would be limited to 2 anglers per trip.
The guides for these trips are limited as well so plenty of
advance notice is appreciated.
8 hr trip $250/person
5 hr trip $175/person
Otter Creek Canoe Trip
Take a slow float down the Otter in search of: rainbows, browns,
pike, bass. This is a chance to see part of this great stream
that most people never get to see and fish runs that might get
hit a few times a season. Fishing from the boat and stopping
frequently to fish some of the deep bend pools and gravel bars
you will have prime access to some great water.
4-6hrs $175/person.
Hopper to Mouse
You don't have to travel all the way to New Zealand or Alaska
to catch big trout on Grass Hopper & Mouse flies. Right
here in, Vermont there are plenty of hungry fish, waiting for
you!
Spend about two hours searching local rivers with the Grass
Hopper. If you are used to casting small dries and making delicate
cast to finicky trout, you have to try this.
Trout go crazy for Hoppers... they strike at it multiple times
till they have it in their mouth. Then we scoop them up with
the net & gently release them back to the river.
For the next two hours we tie on the Mouse Fly! Any fish that
dares to try and eat a Mouse is one that I want to catch, you
will to. From big Brown Trout to Smallmouth Bass we will show
you why working a Mouse Fly through our local waters is a blast.
This trip is set up for experienced anglers and you better eat
your "Wheaties " before our guides pick you up. Steady
wading is a must. Be ready for explosive top water action that
is often overlooked. This type of trip was recently written
about in the Drake magazine & Mid- Western guides have been
teaching this for years.
