Well the 2019 Trout season is a week away! I was just scouting some Otter Creek tribs and they are in great shape. Most of the ice is gone and the clarity is perfect. They are swift and cold but if the season started today I would feel pretty confident about putting a few nice trout in the net.

The NHR is currently at around 300 cfs which is high but it was at flood stage on 3/31 at 3,000! I expect the flow to drop close to 200 cfs by next weekend but looks like rain possible on Friday, Saturday and also Sunday.

The Otter Creek is currently at 2,500 cfs with poor clarity. It takes a long time for it to drop and it will definitely be over 2,000 cfs next weekend. Be very careful as the strong currents and slick rocks are a dangerous combo.

A bunch of our guides fish in the Otter Creek Classic which is an opening day fly fishing tournament hosted by Green Mountain Adventures. A part of that is the fly fishing film tour on Friday night. Still tickets left! The events are a benefit for Green Mountain Proctor Healing Waters. So a great cause, a fun tournament with lots of friends and tons of prizes.

In the Spring most folks are running indicators with multiple nymphs or worm patterns. Tight line nymphing is deadly as well. I prefer to dredge and swing streamers. Whatever you choose be safe and have fun!
