Rivers around the state have plenty of water. Large rivers have too much and are dirty from Tuesdays snow and subsequent melt. A general 4-8inches in VT and the ADKs got over a foot. For the short term, levels will only increase, and any clarity will decrease as we have more rain coming tonight. Temps are still in the low 40’s.

After this evenings event we have a couple days of dry warmer weather, then back to unseasonably cool temperatures for the unseeable future.

Don’t let this weather and poor conditions get you down. Levels and clarity change quickly on mountain stream, so they are quicker to fish well after a good rain. Larger rivers take longer to clear, but don’t be afraid to fish dirty or stained water. Some of the best fishing happens as water gets color and loses color.

Tip of the week; fish slow and low, in the slower runs, pools and inside of bends.
