River report: Monday May 20th, 2019
Love this time of year! Just about anything you want to fish for is available. Book a trip soon!
Our guides are having fun on medium sized rivers chasing large wild trout with nymphs and streamers. Some rivers and ponds across Vt have also been stocked. The past few days I’ve seen Dark Hendrickson’s fly around but not many fish were keying in on them. Expect to be dry fly fishing within the next 10 days! I’ll start using grass hoppers soon in fast water as well.
Still shots at Vt Steelhead and lake run Smallmouths. Which is one of my favorite combos. Sometimes you can also find some Gar. We bring a big net and be ready to battle on these trips. Water temp is in the low 60’s.
The Otter is still super high and now off color from last nights severe thunderstorm. It was looking prime over the weekend and the Pike Bite has turned on in the last 10 days. Should be fishing again great by Wednesday.
Bass Ponds are in great shape. Finding active Largemouths in shallow water and already looking up. Have caught a few nice LMB on topwater recently.
Lake Champlain is still cold 53 the other day in Shelburne and super high. It’s flooding over lots of docks and into forest. So much water to fish right now. Lots of different fish species to target. Some of them are sight fishing which is super fun.
