Rivers around the state are back to fishable conditions after heavy rain wreaked havoc on them back on Halloween. Some watersheds saw 5 inches in 6 hours. Needless to say we had to cancel trips for a week and a half after the event. Now we have entered to the deep freeze. Early in the week we saw record low and record low highs broken. In northern Vermont we received 8″ of snow. Mid we we caught a break as we made it into the 20’s for a high. This weekend we go back into the freezer, however there will be plenty of sunshine.

If you are going to venture out to chase steelhead or other fall spawners, please be safe. It’s bitter cold and things are icy and snowy. If you want to learn the ropes of fishing these conditions safely, and learning the strategies and techniques that could make you more successful thus extending your season, give us jingle. Many of or guides fish thru the winter, so they know what it takes and it is much different than summer.
