River Report: Tuessday June 11th, 2019
What a weekend! We had our first, start to finish, perfect weather and perfect fishing conditions. We enjoyed wall to wall sun and air temps finally made it into the 80’s. Most rivers where at average levels with excellent clarity. Water temps are still cool in the sections I fished. They ranged from 56-62 degrees. We received .60 inches of rain last night so things could be a little dirty through tomorrow. After that, back to 60’s for high air temps and more rain through the Fathers Day weekend
We had a great weekend of guiding on rivers, ponds and lake. Everyone was catching the fish they where targeting. From Rutland to the NE Kingdom and Lake Champlain. In the NEK, we trolled in canoes some remote ponds and caught some nice bows on Hornbergs. Found brookies feeding on Green Drakes just before sunset.
In Rutland, we’ve been putting clients on the 2yr stocked rainbows. Seems all you need is someone to show you where and a couple of different colored woolly buggers.
On lake Chaplain and the lower ends of its tribs, we have be continues to find big largemouth and smallmouth bass. Big streamers in darker colors have been most productive.
Don’t forget, Father’s Day is this weekend, so there is still plenty of time to get your Dad or the father of your children the best gift he’ll receive. A Stream and Brook gift certificate! We can get you a gift certificate for any of our services, in time for his day, and can be used anytime. I say it all the time, because I hear from clients all the time. The gift of a day on the water with a guide, an introductory school for someone who has been wanting to learn, a casting lesson or a fly tying lesson is the most thought full gift you can give to a fly fisher. They never forget…
