Brian Cadoret

Hi! I am Brian “Lug” Cadoret from Cornwall, Vermont.

I am a professional fly fishing guide and co-owner of Stream and Brook Fly Fishing. I guide all over the Green Mountain State for trout, bass, pike, and anything that swims. I was the President of the New Haven River Anglers (NHRA), a great non-profit river conservation group, for 6 years. I am now the NHRA Chairman of the Education Committee and active with the Conservation Committee. Teaching young kids to enjoy the outdoors is important to me. I am also a member of the Friends of Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, a non-profitgroup that protects an area of Northern Lake Champlain.

I fish in the Otter Creek Classic (O.C.C.) every year. It is a fly fishing only “catch and release” tournament that takes place on opening day of the VT trout season. I have won first place twice, second place twice and took third place over the years. The proceeds of the tournament go to the NHRA. I have also landed some nice bass in the Ditch Pickle Classic. The D.P.C. is Lake Champlain’s tournament exclusively for the fly rod angler and is a catch, photograph, and release tournament for Smallmouth & Largemouth Bass. The proceeds of the D.P.C. go to the Friends of Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge.

I inspired a pro-model fly rod by Rock River Rods called the “The Lug”! It is a 9.5 foot 8wt. I worked with The Vermont company and desinged the rod for tossing big streamers at big fish. Some of the best fly tiers around supply me with flies, including the RUSUPERFLY, The Vermont Fly Guys and Castaway Flies. I was featured in an episode of the Vermont Public Television Outdoor Journal, “VT Trout Bums”!  I earned “Vermont Master Angler” status in 2010 through 2016. I stopped entering fish last year.
I am super excited to be on the Jackson Kayak Fishing Team and the Werner Paddle Pro Staff!  My kayak of choice is the Big Rig or Coosa but the Big Tuna is awesome as well! I spend over 150 days a year fly fishing on lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams in VT and NY. Trophy brown trout, northern pike, steelhead, bowfin, musky and bass are the top reasons why I fish so much. I have caught the saltwater bug a bit and landed a few baby tarpoon in Mexico. Have landed some nice fish in Florida, including Redfish and have chased Stripers in Maine, RI and CT.

I enjoy photography and taking videos. I have my camera with me whenever I am on an adventure. I work at the Middlebury College golf course and ski area, which allows me to spend lots of time outdoors and snowboard over 100 days a year!

I like to fish! Cheers!
