Rivers up and down the state are in need of a good drink of water, despite our surplus in precipitation this summer. Definitely better than the past 2 years. We stand to get some rain over night tonight , then another good chance of significant rain on Tuesday . The best news is that river temperatures are below 70, 67 in Morristown on the Lamoille this past yesterday . Those temps should be good to go, with the forecast of below average air temps for the next 7 days and more chance of rain later this week.

We have been doing a lot of 1 and 2 day fly fishing schools recently. 2 day schools are mostly for true beginners. 1st day students learn how to cast. Casting is the most important skill you can learn. You’ll also learn about all the gear you’ll need, fishing knots, flies you’ll need to fool fish, fly tying, as well as some on stream aquatic insect entomology.

2nd day is applying everything you learned from the first day to methods and techniques for trying to catch fish.

1 day schools are mostly for novice fly fishers who are looking to up their game. Improve casting, learn techniques and strategies from a professional guide/instructor. Everyone can use a little tweaking as fly fishing is a life long pass time and you can never know it all.
