Rivers up and down the state are in good shape for this time of year. Since early October we’ve been getting decent rain, and since early November we’ve been getting a bunch of snow.
Record snow at the top of Mt. Mansfield since November 8th and we got another 5-10 inches state wide yesterday.
Water levels are average with good clarity. Some ice is starting to form along the bank with definitely some snow one the banks. As well Water temps are in the mid 30’s.

Recently we had some “Farm Stay” folks from WhistlePig out on a cold day. All 3 were new to the sport. All had fish on , with none making to the net.
Many rivers are open to catch and release fishing year round. The winter is a more challenging time of year to catch most species due to there slower metabolism due to the cold water. It’s also challenging for the angler. Dealing with cold weather and water. Everything really changes from a regular fishing day , right down to having your regular parking spot being occupied by a large snow bank.
