Fall fishing 2025

Fall fishing 2025

October 31st marks the end of the regular trout season here in Vermont. That simply means you can’t keep trout starting November 1st, and you can no longer use live bait. You may still fish for trout. There are plenty of rivers and streams that are open year round to “catch and release, artificial lures and flies only”

Right now we are mainly targeting fall spawning species. Browns, landlocked salmon and later in November Lake Champlain lake trout. With some significant recent rains, we are hope that gets these guys moving giving us anglers opportunities at some big fall fish.
Rivers are in great condition right now. We just got some much needed rain so level are getting close to average. Temps are in the the mid 40’s and clarity is clear. We are looking at another decent amount of rain Thursday and Friday. Weather for the angler has been great, no real cold yet and most days are sunny with highs in the 50s.
As we get deeper into winter , cold weather and cold water temperatures play a huge role in how we plan to fish. Preparation is key to fishing with snow covered banks and water temps in the 30’s. Our guides fish regularly thru the winter, so if you want to learn how to fish cold weather to extend your fly fishing season get in touch.

We also have gift certificates for 2026.
